ABOUT MARTHA

A self taught artist with a background in liberal arts, Martha first discovered a love for vintage letterforms during her undergraduate studies at The University of Michigan.

Martha refined her calligraphy by studying traditional Copperplate under renowned artists including Younghae Chung and Suzanne Cunningham. Her sophisticated style has been employed by clients from Cartier to Dior for live engraving, brand activations, and holiday events.

Through calligraphy, Martha discovered painting in a variety of mediums. She is most interested in capturing vintage ephemera in modern modalities.

With an interest in antique textiles and cyanotype photography, Martha aims to remove as much digital influence as possible. This return to analog processes serves as an act of resistance in a world consumed by immediacy and waste. By working in opposition to current trends of production, elements of chance and imperfection are introduced to the final works.
