Martha specializes in creating heirloom items for individuals and brands with the most discerning taste.

Drawing on a rich technical knowledge, artist and designer Martha Trethewey offers heritage-minded art and paper in an increasingly technical world. Using the finest, archival quality materials, the finished product marries a traditional modus operandi - through letterpress printing, oil painting, and more - with a contemporary eye. Each piece is created to be kept for a lifetime (or beyond).

A self taught artist with a background in liberal arts, Martha first discovered a love for vintage letterforms during her undergraduate studies at The University of Michigan.

Martha refined her calligraphy by studying traditional Copperplate under renowned artists including Younghae Chung and Suzanne Cunningham. Her sophisticated style has been employed by clients from Cartier to Dior for live engraving, brand activations, and holiday events.

Through calligraphy, Martha discovered painting in a variety of mediums. She is most interested in capturing vintage ephemera in modern modalities.
